Transmission & Drivetrain Questions

How often should transmission fluid be changed?

Every 30,000–60,000 miles for most vehicles — 'lifetime fluid' usually means the transmission's lifetime, which is shorter without service.

My transmission is slipping — is it done for?

Not necessarily. Low or burnt fluid, a solenoid, or a sensor can all cause slipping. Diagnostics first; the honest answer might be a $300 fix, not a $4,000 rebuild.
